Elected President, Indian Newspaper Society

JACOB Mathew, Executive Editor, 'Malayala Manorama', Kottayam in Kerala has been elected president, Indian Newspaper Society, for 2005-2006 at its 66th Annual General Meeting held in New Delhi last weekend.

Mr. Mathew succeeds Pradip Guha. Gulah Kothari of Rajasthan Patrika was elected deputy president, I. Venkat of Sitara film weekly, Hyderabad, vice-president, and Mahendra Mohan Gupta, honorary treasurer. Deepak S. Raja has been elected as the secretary general of the society.

An executive committee comprising representatives from 42 national and regional newspapers have been elected. Mr. Jacob Mathew joined Malayala Manorama in 1982 as Resident Editor in Kozhikode and moved to Kottayam in 1994 as Executive Editor.
