LIOC requests US$ 4m for subsidy
 

Lanka IOC has requested the Government to increase the petroleum subsidy by US$4 million for a month at today's price to be in business due to escalating oil prices.

Bank of Ceylon records Rs. 985m profit in first half
 

Bank of Ceylon recorded a 19% increase in pre-tax profits for the first half of 2005. Last year for the same period the pre-tax profit was Rs. 1.094 billion. This year saw an improvement to Rs. 1.303 billion - an increase of approximately 19%.
