Sri Lankan wins International Toastmasters Award
Toastmaster Ashan Walpita of the Smedley Toastmasters Club, Colombo,
has won second place in an international speech contest conducted by
Toastmasters International.
His speech which won the club contest was taped and forwarded to
Toastmasters International in the USA to be judged in competition with
winners of other club speech competitions around the world which were
also taped and forwarded to Toastmasters World Headquarters.
Ashan is a student of Royal College and has won many awards for
speech and drama both at school and national level. He will be invited
to receive his award at the Toastmasters International Convention to be
held in toronto Canada in August this year.
A Sri Lankan has been placed in a Toastmasters International speech
competition after a lapse of 10 years. Toastmaster Rajiv Goonetilleke
had previously won this award in 1995. |
