ANCL's 45th Mihintale Aloka Pooja

Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Limited (ANCL) will hold its 45th Aloka Pooja (Offering of Light) at Mihintale from June 21 to 23 to mark Poson Festival.

ANCL will organise this event in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (SLRC). Several other programs will also be held parallel to the Aloka Pooja. An oratorical competition will be held on June 11 for school children of the North Central Province.

This competition will be held in two categories, Senior and Junior. The Buddhist Association of ANCL will award the Wijewardena Commemoration Trophy and Rs.10,000 to the winner in the senior category.

Second and third winners of each category will receive cash prizes of Rs.7500 and Rs.5000 each.

Those placed from fourth to tenth will receive a parcel of valuable books from Dayawansa Jayakody and Company Limited. The National Savings Bank (NSB) will sponsor this competition.

Clothing used in the observance of sil will be donated to 250 Dhamma school children parallel to the event and it will be sponsored by the Public Trustee.
