Eagles 'Farewell I' tour goes global from October : Eagles to perform in the Far East and Australia The Eagles are bringing their triumphant 'Farewell I' tour to the Far East and Australia with concerts in Sapporo, Tokyo, Fukuoka, Nagoya, Perth, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide. The Bangkok, Singapore and Hong Kong concert marks the first time in their career the Eagles will be performing in these markets. The band last performed in Australia and Japan in 1995 during their SRO 'Hell Freezes Over Tour.' Reaction to The Eagles returning to Australia for the first time in ten years was met with record breaking ticket sales down-under. The 'Farewell I' scheduled concert dates in Melbourne and Sydney sold out in less than an hour, and the Brisbane show met the same fate in less than four hours. Due to the overwhelming demand by Australian fans for tickets the band was forced to add an unprecedented fourth Melbourne show as well as an additional concert in Brisbane. The Eagles had not included Adelaide on their original Australian itinerary but local radio station MIX 102.3 hastily organized a petition drive and collected more then 15,000 signatures to convince the band to bring 'Farewell I' to their city. The 'Farewell I' 2004 tour marks the fourth time the band has toured Australia and has their Hell Freezes Over DVD remains Australia's best selling music DVD. The Eagles have sold more than 120 million albums worldwide and has scored four No.1 U.S. singles and four Grammy Awards. Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975, Hotel California and their Greatest Hits Volume 2 have sold 28 16, and 11 million albums respectively. The Eagles were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1998. |
