LTTE has no confidence in the Freedom Alliance - Azwer

"Mr. Anura Bandaranaike who hurried back to Sri Lanka from United States to become the next Prime Minister which was promised to him by the JVP, now says he will be the next President of this country.

The President has retorted by saying that the Executive Presidential system will be abolished and she would become the Prime Minister through the Parliament and what Anura Bandaranaike said was utter rubbish, she has said," former Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and UNF National List nominee A. H. M. Azwer said at a series of election meetings held at Rakwana, Atakalampanna, Kahawatte and other areas in the Ratnapura district.

Azwer said that there is utter confusion and chaos within the Sandhanaya and clear division among them. JVP followers request the public to vote only for their members and not to vote for the PA candidates in the Sandhanaya whom they identify as corrupt and bribe-taking politicians.

This statement clearly refers to the nominees of the President in the PA/JVP Sandhanaya. The PA candidates are highly disturbed by this allegation of the JVP in the Sandhanaya itself and the true SLFP supporters say since there is no proper understanding between the Alliance and request to vote UNF and not to vote for the JVPers.

Minister Azwer also said that "In Parliament looking at the PA backbenchers, I told them it is Anichchawatha Sankara for them if the Sandhanaya is formed. They say to me now what I told them in Parliament has proved true and it is now too late.

Minister Azwer stated that Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe is the only national leader who had visited all districts in the country. He went to North and East directly to the people and spoke to their hearts and returned back having performed his duties with contentment.

The Prime Minister clearly told the people that the Tokyo aid and other funds, which are received from friendly countries, would be equally distributed for development programmes in North, South, East and Central provinces which means he has a clear vision of the rationality. It is absolutely clear that the LTTE has no confidence in the Sandhanaya. Therefore the people are alarmed that if the Sandhanaya comes to power the war will start again, said the Minister.

Azwer said that the people in the border villages in Polonnaruwa and other areas who were massacred, say that their lives are secured under the Ranil's regime.

People of these areas are engaged in agriculture, animal husbandry and business activities without any fear or danger to their lives.

It is evident that over 90% of the Muslims in the country would vote for the UNP at this election so that the peace process would proceed with success.

Therefore it is clear that the UNF will win the election with the comfortable margin.
