President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga has sent a message of congratulations to the Russian President Vladmir Putin on his landslide victory at the recent Presidential elections. The President's message states: "I have great pleasure in extending to Your Excellency, my sincere congratulations and warm good wishes on your landslide victory at the recently held Presidential election. Your re-election displays the confidence and the high expectations, the people of Russia placed on your leadership and reforms. I am confident that the excellent bilateral relations that exist between our two countries will be further strengthened and enhanced into new areas of co-operation for the mutual benefit of our two peoples during your tenure of office. Please accept, Excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration." |
