IFS-Singer tie-up, a landmark project in local IT industry

by Irangika Range

Singer Sri Lanka Ltd has selected IFS as a total integrated business solutions provider for its operation.

Describing the IFS-Singer tie-up as a landmark project in the local IT industry, IFS, South Asia Vice President Jayantha de Silva said that they agreed to complete the project in two years and US $ 850,000 would be invested. Around two million customers would benefit by the project.

"We will expand this project with Singer-Thailand and Singer-India later," he said. "Our strategy is customer participation and to deliver a cost effective solution. The wide area network will link every Singer outlet to the head office to make this a really significant project in the local market," he said.

"Whilst Singer Sri Lanka will implement IFS Applications, other Singer operations in the region will also roll out IFS Applications during the first step of the project.

The objective is to replace a number of disparate systems with one integrated business solution from IFS covering all aspects of the business such as retail operations, supply chain management, service operations, human resources and financial management.

Singer Sri Lanka Chairman Hemaka Amarasuriya said after a thorough evaluation of the available solutions in the market they selected IFS, since they felt IFS could offer them the best value proposition to meet their objectives.

"With IFS, we will have one single view of our customers when they contact us, either at the retail shops or at the service outlets because our purpose is to develop the market", he said.

A leading global business applications supplier, IFS has 2,800 employees with sales in 45 countries and more than 350,000 users worldwide.
