Ashwini Kumar, Drugs Controller General of the Directorate General of Health Services, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare of India will be the chief guest at the annual sessions of the Pharmaceutical Society of Sri Lanka to be held on Sunday June 29 at 9.00 a.m. at the DHPL Auditorium, 42, Nawam Mawatha, Colombo 2. This is the first time that a Drug Controller General of India is attending the annual session of the Pharmaceutical Society of Sri Lanka. He will also be a resource person at the National Seminar on Pharmaceuticals on the theme "Future Challenges & Opportunities in the Pharmaceutical Sector in Sri Lanka" to be held on 28th June, 2003 at Taj Samudra Hotel, Colombo. He will present a paper on "India After 2005" - Pharmaceutical Overview" states the President of the Pharmaceutical Society, Chinta Abayawardana in a press release. He heads the Central License Approval Authority of India and is presently engaged in bringing qualitative changes in the drug regulatory environment in India through various initiatives such as major amendments in Drugs & Cosmetics Rules, preparation of GLP and GCP guidelines, laying down policies and procedure for evaluation of new drugs developed through indigenous research and up-gradation of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). He has been an advisor to the WHO. He is the Chairman of the Drugs Consultative Committee and Member Secretary of the Drugs Technical Advisory Board and a Member of the National Pharmaceutical Price Authority of the Pharmacy Council of India. |
