by Ranil Wijayapala The Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission (SLMM) is set to finalise its report on the sea incident in Mullaitivu which will be handed over to both the Government and the LTTE 'hopefully' on Wednesday or Thursday, SLMM Deputy Chief Hagrup Haukland told the Daily News. The SLMM offices in Trincomalee, Jaffna and Mullaitivu were due to submit their reports to the SLMM Headquarters yesterday after completing their part of investigations, Haukland added. "We have to sit and study these reports Tuesday to make the final report on the incident", he added. Haukland said the SLMM teams investigating the incident have questioned Sea Tiger cadres who have been reportedly involved in the incident in the Mullaitivu area. The SLMM also questioned and recorded statements from Navy officers and sailors involved in the incident. They are also reported to have checked all the SLN vessels engaged in the operation. Haukland said the two monitors who visited the locations pointed by the Navy and the LTTE as the places where the incident reportedly occurred returned last Friday. "They have observed nothing but the blank sea", Haukland added. |
