Lankan delegation meets Lord Faulkner

The Sri Lankan delegation led by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe now in London to study strategies for the establishment of an Interim Administrative Structure met the British Constitutional Affairs Minister Lord Faulkner at the British Constitutional Affairs Department in Victoria, London, yesterday (June 23).

The Sri Lankan delegation who received a warm welcome by the British delegates led by Lord Faulkner exchanged views with them relating to reconstruction and development activities in the North East areas of Sri Lanka including the issue of formulating the intended special council.

The British delegation in a positive response explained the possibility of making use of the British experiences and expertise in the cause of decentralization of power.

Premier Wickremesinghe also explained to the British delegates the necessity to establish an interim administrative structure to solve the ethnic problem in Sri Lanka. The Premier expressed confidence that the British Government will support the cause of establishing an interim administrative structure by extending their vast experience and guidance in this regard.

The Sri Lankan delegation led by Premier Wickremesinghe included Professor G. L. Peiris, Ministers Moragoda and Tyronne Fernando, Attorney General K. C. Kamalasabeysen and the Prime Minister's Secretary Bradman Weerakoon.
