Deproscription will be considered at negotiation stage - PM

by Ariyaratne Ganegoda

The Government will seriously consider the possibility of removing the ban on the LTTE with the commencement of negotiations, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has told a Tamil National Alliance (TNA) delegation at Temple Trees yesterday.

Explaining the stand of the government on removing the ban, the Prime Minister said adherence to the conditions of the Ceasefire Agreement would also be taken into consideration.

The organising of protest rallies for minor incidents in the North East could disrupt the peace process, the Prime Minister pointed out. However, if the LTTE could show more flexibility in this type of situation it will strengthen the peace process.
