False and frivolous tales will not help PA to win - Rukman Senanayaka

by Ruwanwella group correspondent

Spreading false and frivolous tales will not help the PA in its quest for power, Rukman Senanayaka, District Organiser for the UNP's Kegalle campaign, told the UNP 'Balamandalaya' at Kanathota, last week. The chairman of the Balamandalaya and former District MP, U. L. M. Farook presided.

Rukman Senanayaka further said: "The exodus of some of the PA ministers and members was like the breaching of a bund. The voters are awaiting the day when the PA would be sent home.

"There were six candidates contesting under the PA ticket in the Thunkorale. They are all residents of Ruwanwella. Therefore, the UNP had to organise itself well in the Kegalle District and win all seats.

"The economy had been ruined not only in the Thunkorale, but in the entire country.

Tea and rubber industries had been badly hit. The roads look more like streams."

Former Ruwanwella MP and Minister and Governor of the Central Province, P. C. Imbulana said that the country was confronted by a crucial situation.

"The PA Government, having cheated the people had destroyed this country. The Government was boasting through the media of their own achievements however.

Imbulana said, he never lied. He promised what was possible. Most of the members in the Parliament were rogues and thugs. Schoolchildren could not enter Parliament to listen to a decent speech and to witness good behaviour of the so-called representatives.

U. L. M. Farook stated the UNP had achieved independence for the country without shedding even a drop of blood. He was able to do an honourable service because of gentlemen like P. C. Imbulana.

Former Chairman of the Sabaragamuwa PC, Hemapala Dasanayake, former PC Member, Senaratna Alagiyawanna, former Chairman of Sathosa, Attorney-at-Law, Razeek Farook, Opposition Leader of the Ruwanwella PS, Osmond Rupasinghe, Dehiowita PS Member and District Balamandala Secretary, Daya Methsiri Wickramathilake, Trade Unionist, P. L. A. Somapala, W. Somadasa, Co-ordinating Secretary, Jaliya Wijekone also spoke.
