Rajaratnam in Nuwara Eliya The Ceylon Workers' Alliance General Secretary and Adviser to the Ministry of Infra Structure Suppiah Sathasivam, addressing a large gathering at the New Town Hall in Nuwara Eliya said it was the P.A., Government which provided all amentites and facilities to the estate workers during its tenure of governance in this country. He said the United National Party which has a traditional name, being the mudalalies party, continues to do so, and it will never help or foster the working class in this part of the world. Suppiah Sathasivam, who is in the P.A's national list and a former C.W.C. dissident, said in the forthcoming General Elections, he was confident that the P.A. Government would be formed under President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga and there was no doubt about it. He appealed to the plantation workers for whom, this Government has done so much to vote for the P.A. Celebrations was also held to mark the anniversary of the CWA. Sathasivam who gave a detailed account of the P.A's achievements in the country with related issues to the plantation sector and the estate workers, said there was no second word that it was the P.A. Government and its leader Chandrika Bandaranike Kumaratunga, who had a strong will and vision to find a lasting solution to the ethnic problem and the ongoing war, which had been thwarted by the reactionaries. Several leaders addressed the gathering which included T.V. Senan, A.D.M. Rajan. A message sent by President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga for the Union's first anniversary celebrations was also read out. |
