LTTE, if they win the elections and The Deputy Minister further stated that the replies to these questions from Ranil will be very important to the people, specially as, about 30% of the entire population in the Eastern province comprises each ethnic group Sinhala, Tamil and Muslim proportionately and that he had discussed the current problems in the country which his Lordship the Archbishop of Colombo Nicholas Marcus Fernando and his grace was of the view that no one would support any political party to divide the country. He further said that, at a time when the economy in the Asian region was deteriorating, this Government was successful in achieving a 6% growth rate in the economy and in considering the economic environment the Government could lower the budget deficit to 10%, control the inflation at the lower level and bring down the unemployment rate to the minimum possible. Finally Corea said that Norechchole thermal power plant was not a thing initiated by this Government, but hearing to the protests and demands of the public in the area, the Government decided to stop this project. |
