Sihala Urumaya warning: Do not obstruct our attempt to destroy LTTE

by Uditha Kumarasinghe

Although more and more disadvantages were piling up against the LTTE in the international arena, the two major parties are not rushing in for the kill, Sihala Urumaya's National Organiser Champika Ranawaka charged at the SU's inaugural rally in Borella on Monday.

"We challenge the traitors who are going to discuss with the LTTE to militarily defeat them. We warn them not to obstruct the attempts made by the SU to destroy the LTTE," he said.

The UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe had pledged an interim administration to the North-East. But the late President J.R. Jayawardene handed over the entire Jaffna peninsula to the LTTE in 1985 through Thimpu discussions. The late President R. Premadasa and five cabinet Ministers also discussed a separate administration with the LTTE in 1989, he said.

UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe was one of the Cabinet Ministers who had talks with the LTTE in 1989 to betray the entire North to LTTE. As a result of these betrayals of the UNP, nearly 8000 youth sacrificed their lives at the "Jayasikuru" operation, he said.

Ranawaka complained that even some shameless sons whose fathers were brutally killed by the LTTE are contesting from the UNP and seeks discussions with the LTTE. "

Tamil Party leaders like Ananda Sangari, Thondamann and Chandrasekeran are trying to betray our nation. But as a great strength Sihala Urumaya has come forward to fight against these conspiracies," he said.

Conspiracies were being hatched by the traitors to sabotage the political campaign of the SU. The massive crowd gathered in Borella gave a good reply to these traitors, he said.

The SU was formed to give dignity to the Sinhala nation. The objective of the SU is to bring victory in many ways to the nation, he said.

People have to face another election within one year. During this one year, crossovers and mud slinging were conducted between two major parties. In this situation, the SU was the only political party which acted with national responsibility.

At present several political groups are engaging in a competition to run as the anti-Tigers. The SU is the single party which guided them towards it. Today the both PA and the JVP manifestos comprise the view of the SU.

Ranawaka alleged the PA Government conducted talks with the LTTE in 1994 for five months. During that period five ships loads of weapons were brought in by the LTTE. Those are the weapons the LTTE used to attack key places such as Sri Dalada Maligawa, Central Bank and the World Trade Centre.

He said that today there was a complaint about an Ali-Koti agreement. But the PA has also an agreement with the LTTE. That's why they are going to discuss with the LTTE and lift the proscription.

He challenged President Kumaratunga to make a comment on whether the LTTE ban would be lifted or not, if PA comes into power. During the past seven years, the Government had demolished all the key sectors of the country, except the LTTE.

"The entire political history of the JVP did not have any policy. If they had worn Sil Dresses today, the people could recognise the Wolfs in sheeps clothing. Therefore this false propaganda of the JVP should also be defeated," he said.

Ranawaka said there was no difference of the vote given to the PA or the JVP. At present the JVP political committee is with Minister Mangala Samaraweera. In this context the people should defeat these conspiracies too.

Meanwhile the UNP had betrayed the Muslims to Rauf Hakeem. They had been under the wing of the UNP for the past 60 years. This " Otu Thrasthavadaya " should also be nipped in the bud, he said.

He said a strong Sinhala power should be made to safeguard the Sinhala nation which possess to a long history.

Commenting on the National List of two major parties he said that 29 of the UNP list, 17 were not Sinhalese while 11 of the PA list were not Sinhalese. These national lists comprise a majority of racketeers who destroyed this country. Even a single academic is not included in the JVP national list. A foul mouth is not enough to build a nation. There is a vital need for scholars and academics, he said.

He said the SU challenges the two major parties to show whether even a single academic is included in their national lists.

The SU is following principle oriented politics. As a pure power, the SU has come forward to safeguard the Sinhala nation and requests the people to vote for the victory of the SU, he added.
