Manifesto at a glance
- A political solution to the ethnic crisis safeguarding the territorial
integrity of the country and making the minority communities stakeholders
in the democratic process.

completed.

Representation, the First-past-the-post system and the need for special
representation.

preliminary work is already underway for the construction of the Outer
Colombo Ring Road and the Colombo-Kandy Expressway.

Bandaranaike International Airport is being further developed.

Jayawardhanapura will remain the Administrative Capital.

training will be expanded. Rural hospital facilities will be developed.
- Free education up to graduate level at State expense.
- Day-care centers for small children will be set up throughout the
country.

- The non-aligned foreign policy will be carried forward.
- Rural industries and small industries will be developed. A policy of
bringing to Sri Lanka, new knowledge, technology and new industries will
be carried out.
- IT based management system throughout the country will be extended by
the year 2005. IT will be included in the curriculum of universities and
other educational institutions.
