The Millennium City, Housing Development Project by Ceylinco Developers and backed by Ceylinco Consolidated commenced construction of novel concept 'Shop Houses' with the exchanging of agreements between Ceylinco Developers and Dharmadasa Contractors. Project Managers for the project are Promec (Pvt) Ltd. and the architects are Forest (Pvt) Ltd. According to Assistant General Manager Marketing, Mevan Samarasinghe of Ceylinco Developers, the main advantage of the 'Shop House' concept is that it permits the owner to live and work on the same premises. "Furthermore the fact that it is located within the Millennium City Complex provide the 'Shop House' owner with a readymade market of 1,875 families apart from the residents of Athurugiriya and the surrounding suburbs, he said. Initially CDL has provided 21 'Shop Houses' of which 19 were sold within the first two weeks of the commencement of advertising of this unique concept. The total value of the contract awarded to Dharmadasa Contractors for the construction of the 21 'Shop Houses' is Rs. 68,970,000 with construction due to commence immediately. General Manager CDL, Sisira Weerabahu said that CDL hoped to complete construction within one year with occupants being able to take up residence and commence business no later than November 2002. As a further convenience a sales office will be open seven days of the week providing occupants and would be occupants with all information pertaining to the 'Shop Houses'. |
