Houses for War Heroes
The Seva Vanitha Unit of the Defence and Urban Development Ministry
donated two newly built houses under the Api Wenuwen Api project and
handed them over to two war heroes at a ceremony at Padiyathalawa
recently.

Seva Vanitha Chairperson Ioma Rajapaksa handed over the keys of the
two houses to the new owners Lt H M A Bandara of 3GR and Corporal D M R
Wijesinghe of 11 SLLI, in the presence of Additional Secretary
(Administration) to the Ministry Indu Rathnayake, Major General Lal
Perera, Col Ranjan Lamahewa, Damayanthi Rathnayake and senior military
officers who graced the occasion. Lt Bandara lost his vision due to
injuries caused by a booby trap during operations in Thukkai in
Vavunikulam. Corporal Wijesinghe lost his left leg to a landmine blast
in Mullikulam.
The Api Wenuwen Api project is carried out under the guidance of
Defence and Urban Development Ministry Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.

The houses are constructed under the supervision of Chairperson Ioma
Rajapaksa.
The houses funded by the Seva Vanitha Unit were constructed by 4th
Engineering Services Regiments of the Sri Lanka Army. |
