Hillwood College, Kandy has won both Central Province schools under
17 and under 19 netball championships conducted by the Department of
Education, Kandy concluded at the Rahula College grounds, Katugastota
recently.
Teams from Kandy, Nuwara Eliya and Matale Girls Schools participated.
Last year both under 17 and under 19 netball titles were won by Girls
High School, Kandy and this year they were runners-up to Hillwoodians,
coached by a veteran coach Aruni Hemakumari.
In the semi-finals Hillwood Under 17 team beat Mahamaya Girls College
by 30 to 14 points and in the finals Hillwoodians beat Girls High School
by 17 to 13 points.
In the semi-finals Hillwood College Under 19 netball team beat
Sangamitta College, Matale and in the finals they beat Girls High School
by 24 to 23 in a closely contested game. |
