DSS concede a walk-over to Trinity

The curtain raiser match of the Milo inter-schools under 20 knock out rugby tournament for the President’s Trophy between D.S.Senanayake College and Trinity College Kandy did not take place yesterday as the D.S.Senanayake team did not take the field and conceded a walk over to Trinity College, Kandy.

D.S.Senanayake who scored a stunning 22 - 20 win over S.Thomas’College a week ago were not prepared for the match as only 14 players were available for practice on Monday.

Johnians in easy win

Meanwhile, St.John’s College Nugegoda beat St.Aloysius College Galle by 23 points (one goal, two tries and two penalties) to nil in their quarter final match for the Chairman’s Trophy.

St John’s College scored the tries through their flanker S.A.T.Madushan (one), prop Anushka Edirisinghe(one) and prop Kanishka Wickramasinghe (one) while fly half Kanishka Perera added the extra points to Anushka’s try and contributed for the Johnians with two penalties.

The Aloysians showcased a poor game and their opponents didn’t allowed them to score a single try with the fierce tacking and solid defence.

The president’s trophy quarter final match between Science College Mount Lavinia and Wesley College will take place at the same venue at 4.15 pm today.
