Kovil kapurala killing: suspect arrested

A suspect wanted in connection with the killing of Eshvara Kovil,
Valliguha temple, Kataragama, kapurala, Rajapakse Mudiyanselage
Premadasa was arrested on Sunday in Badulla by Kataragama Police.
The kapurala was killed on June 3 night. His body was found by one of
his nephews on June 5 in a shrubbery of the temple premises.
The suspect has confessed that he and a nephew of the incumbent of
the Valliguha temple had killed the kapurala on June 3 midnight.
He said the body was cut into pieces and they had dropped it into a
shrubbery in the temple land after bundling parts of the body in a bag
of fertiliser. The suspect had shown a club to the Police that was used
to kill the kapurala. Investigations are on to arrest more suspects. The
suspect was due to be produced before the Tissamaharama Magistrate and
District Judge. |
