Conference on regional economics and science

Conference on Regional Economics and Science organized by the Higher Education Ministry will be held on July 05 from 8.30 am to 12.00 noon at the Central Bank Auditorium.

Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa will be the Chief Guest at the inaugural session which will also be attended by Higher Education Minister S. B. Dissanayaka. Keynote speaker of the conference will be Director of Chubu Region Institute for Social and Economic Research and a senior lecturer of the Kagawa University and University of Kitakyushu, Japan Prof. Takeo Ihara. Prof. Ihara is a well-known researcher and writer in the field of Regional Economic and Science and he completed his doctoral thesis in regional economic analysis. He is the author of ten books on the field and published 36 articles.

He has won the Academic prize for an Excellent Research Paper in 1996, Shikoku-Shinbun Cultural Prize in 1998, IATSS Award in 1998 and JAPA Award in 2009.
