Illegal migrants arrested

Twenty three persons who attempted to illegally migrate to Australia by boat were arrested by Kalawanchikudi Police.

The six men, eight women and nine children were waiting to get on board a boat at Wettpalayam beach in Kalawanchikudi yesterday around 5.30 a.m. when they were nabbed by the Police.

They group, residents of Vavuniya, Wennappuwa, Bingiriya, Marawila, Settikulam and Kalawanchikudi, were produced before the Kalawanchikudi Magistrate’s Court.
