| Maha Oya Police, the Army and the Air
Force doused a fire that erupted in the Maduru Oya Forest
Reserve near Aralaganwila road around 10 p.m. on Wednesday.

| A woman aged 31 gave birth to
quintuplets at the Kandy General Hospital yesterday. The
woman from Madawala gave birth to four boys and a girl who
are in good health. The children were admitted to the
Premature Children Unit, hospital sources said. Fathima
Fareesha, whose husband is overseas, had taken treatment
from gynecologist Kapila Gunawardena as she did not have
children for five years. Here, one of the quintuplets.

| A cab travelling from Balangoda
crashed into an electricity post in Horana, Poruwedanda
yesterday morning injuring four persons in the cab. One
person was admitted to Ingiriya Hospital. Investigations
revealed the group had gone to a funeral in Balangoda.
