Residents surround group videoing Deegavapiya temple

A tense situation erupted at the historic Deegavapiya temple when a group of persons who came to the temple in a defender were surrounded by the villagers.

An official of the Police Media Unit said the group has links with a politician in the area.

The official said this group were videoing the temple premises when residents surrounded them. They managed to escape unhurt.

The official denied reports that the residents later surrounded the Damana Police Station.
