Monk dies in three wheeler, lorry crash

A monk died and three others including another monk were seriously injured when a three wheeler crashed into a lorry in Mahiyangana yesterday around 9 a.m.

Ven Kragahawewa Wijitha Rathana Thera, 33, of Sripathi Pirivena, Kuliyapitiya succumbed to the injuries at Mahiyangana Hospital.

The others, including the three wheeler driver are receiving treatment at the same hospital.

Initial investigations revealed that the three wheeler had crashed into the lorry parked on the Mahiyangana - Giradurukotte road. Mahiyangana Police are investigating.
