Bus fare revision:

Minister to consider Private Bus Owners' Assn members' proposals

Private Transport Minister C.B. Ratnayaka agreed to consider proposals of Private Bus Owners' Association members on a possible bus fare revision in the future.

He disclosed this at a meeting with members of the Private Bus Owners' Association at the ministry yesterday.

The minister directed ministry secretary Padmasiri Jayamanna to forward requests seeking Financial Ministry approval for the price hike of bus fares as per with the national policy on bus fares.

All members of Bus Owners' Associations will come into an agreement to verify the percentage of bus fare revision to be made in a few days.

All members of the Bus Owners' Associations agreed to solve the bus fare price hike following a common agreement.

Sri Lanka Bus Owners' Association chairman Gemunu Wijeratna, Inter-Provincial Bus Owners' Association chairman Sarath Kumara and All Ceylon Private Bus Owners' Federation chairman Stanley Fernando attended the meeting.
