Rosa Kekulu in the market soon

A new variety of red rice called Rosa Kekulu will be introduced to
the local market through Sathosa and Lanka Sathosa outlets providing
high quality red rice free of toxic chemicals to the people.
Cooperative Wholesale Establishment (CWE) Chairman Eraj Fernando said
arrangements have been made to supply Rosa Kekulu to consumers at Rs. 48
a kilo through Sathosa and Lanka Sathosa outlets on the instructions of
Co-operatives and Internal Trade Minister Johnston Fernando.
"There is a good demand for red rice varieties in the local market as
doctors have recommended red rice as a preventive measure for many
diseases, including diabetes," he said.
He further said there is a big demand for red rice varieties,
especially from people in the Western and Southern Provinces.
Therefore, measures have been taken to issue last season's red
harvest yield to the market to meet the high demand.," he added. |
