Dengue breeding sites at Kandy Teaching Hospital, schools

Dengue mosquito breeding places were detected at the Kandy Teaching Hospital and three leading schools in Kandy during inspections carried out by the anti-Malaria campaign and the Kandy Municipal Public Health Unit recently.

The three schools were Mahamaya Girls School, Hilwood College and D S Senanayake Vidyalaya.

Municipal Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr Asoka Senarath said the authorities at the three schools were warned that legal action would be taken against them unless the mosquito breeding places were destroyed soon.

He said legal action was filed against 17 public and private institutions during the last month for failure to clean up their premises by eradicating mosquito breeding places.
