Carlton Super Rugby Sevens kick off in Nuwara Eliya on June 29

The 2013 edition of the Carlton Super Sevens International Rugby
Tournament kicks off with the two newly added “Local Franchiser’s
Tournaments”.
The two local tournaments were added into the event in order to
choose the best possible local players to play side by side with the
world’s leading players who will be participating in the two
international tournaments which will start from July 27.
This was revealed at a press conference held at Lakshman Kadirgamar
Institute of International Relations and Strategic Studies yesterday.
The first leg of the local tournament kicks off on June 29 at the
Race Course Grounds,Nuwara Eliya.
The people of Nuwara Eliya will have the opportunity to witness the
cream of Sri Lankan talent in action on June 29 and 30, 2013.
This could be considered as the first time that a rugby event of this
nature will be conducted in the city of Nuwara Eliya. The Second leg of
the local tournament will be worked out on July 6 and 7 at Jayathilleke
Stadium Nawalapitiya. The main reason to select these venues to host the
two local segments of the Carlton Super Sevens 2013 tournament is to
promote the game throughout the country where the participation and the
spectator interest levels to a higher level.
North Central Typhoons, Uva Vipers, Jaffna Challengers, Eastern
Eagles and Southern Sharks will compete in Pool ‘A’ while Central Kings,
Western Warriors, Northern Gladiators, North Western Blacks and
Sabaragamuwa Stallions will play in Group ‘B’. |
