"Whilst, appreciating our customers, for where would we be without
them, it is equally important to care for the people who work for us
such as the lorry drivers and helpers who come to collect the cement
loads and are involved in the effort to distribute them among the
retailers", said Managing Director, Colin Nelson.
Singha Cement implements this novel scheme by offering dry ration
parcels to lorry drivers and helpers who come for order collections.
This program is conducted on the basis where, they gather points
based on the number of cement bags they collect on their trips to the
plant.
Once they have the required number of points they could collect their
dry ration parcels on any working day by submitting these points. "They
could even forgo their dry ration and collect sufficient points to
obtain a household appliance they need such as a gas cooker, TV or any
other item". Nelson said that over 200 dry ration parcels were given
every month amongst this low income segment. "With the rising cost of
living, this scheme helps fulfill a family's daily needs and is highly
appreciated by our drivers and helpers who get yet another opportunity
of winning more prizes through a Raffle Draw where home appliances such
as fridges, TVs, washing machines and rice cookers are given to the
selected winners once in three months".
Nelson said that by taking 'Social Responsibility' to the people who
work for them through activities such as this, Singha Cement has exerted
a huge influence on the community whilst building tremendous loyalty
towards the Company and the Brand.
"We consider our customers as well as our lorry drivers and helpers
to be part of the Singha family.
Whilst we value their support and contribution to the development of
the Company, we feel it is important to show our appreciation to them in
return by supporting them where their daily needs are concerned and by
helping to provide home appliances for these hard working people".
Singha Cement currently has 100 drivers, 100 Lorries, and 80 helpers. |
