CASL exams go global
In yet another groundbreaking initiative, the Strategic Level
Examinations of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA
Sri Lanka) will go global this month, turning a new chapter in the
institute's illustrious 53-year long history.
Slated to be held in June and July respectively, the strategic level
exams will be held in Qatar for the benefit of CA Sri Lanka students who
are living and working there.
The CA Sri Lanka overseas examinations will be conducted in the
strictest of standards with CA Sri Lanka examinations supervisors
expected to supervise the exam sessions in Qatar to ensure the same
level of standards are adhered to as practiced in Sri Lanka. The
examinations in Qatar will be conducted at the same time as in Sri
Lanka.
Speaking on the landmark initiative, CA Sri Lanka President, Sujeewa
Rajapakse said that it is for the first time in the institute's five
decade long history that a CA Sri Lanka exam is being conducted outside
Sri Lanka.
"This is indeed a very proud moment for all of us at the institute,
and it also strengthens our position as a global player in the
accounting world," he noted. He noted that the institute has over 41,000
students who are currently studying the institute's globally recognized
qualification, and some of these students who have completed the
preliminary stages have already secured employment overseas successfully
and it is for their benefit that the CA examinations are held so they
can complete their course of study no matter where they are located.
Chief Executive Officer of CA Sri Lanka, Aruna Alwis said the
decision to hold exams overseas was taken by the CA Sri Lanka Council
following overwhelming requests from both students and members based
outside Sri Lanka, thereby giving students the unique opportunity to sit
for Institute exams despite not being in Sri Lanka. |
