Joes and Mahamaya clinch Age Group titles

The 40th MILO Schools Age Group Swimming Championship which concluded
yesterday saw 33 new meet records being established at the Sugathadasa
Swimming Complex, Colombo.St Joseph’s College, Colombo 10 won the Boys’
overall Championship while Mahamaya College, Kandy clinched the overall
Girls’ Championship competing with 139 schools for four days.
St Joseph’s College excelled throughout the four-day meet as they
secured the Boys Senior Championship with 494 points. Visakha Vidyalaya,
Colombo won the trophy for the Girls Senior Championship for their 312
points. Ananda College, which broke a new meet record in the Boys
Under-17 freestyle relay event yesterday, bagged the Junior Boys
Championship with 191 points.

Ishani
Erandika Senanayake of Sirimavo Bandaranaike Vidyalaya, Colombo
emerged Under-19 Girls Swimming Champion collecting 45 points.
Senanayake estabilshed three new meet records in 100m, 200m and

Competing in the senior Age Group, Ishani Erandika Senanayake of
Sirimavo Bandaranaike Balika Vidyalaya was presented the Girls Under-19
Championship for the three new meet records in the 100m, 200m and 400m
freestyle events. Royalist Kanitha Munasinghe and Trinitian Shehan de
Silva were adjudged Joint Champions in the Under-19 Age Group.
All the relay events were held yesterday, and six new meet records
were set up. The Girls Under-15 team of Mahamaya College, Kandy set up
two new meet records yesterday morning. They established records in 400m
Medley Relay clocking 5:17.09 and finished the 400m freestyle relay in
4:36.84 to set the record helped clinch the overall championship with
154 points in the Under-15 Age Group.
