Informatics Group celebrates 30 years

Sri Lanka's Information Communication Technology (ICT) giant, the Informatics Group celebrated its 30th anniversary at ceremonies held at all Informatics subsidiaries recently. This year's anniversary which is themed '30 years of Pioneering and Empowering' celebrates the Group's successes and the road ahead.

The Informatics Group which was established on May 31, 1983 has annexed an eminent position as a pioneer in Sri Lanka's ICT and Higher Education sectors. The Group has played a pivotal role in reshaping and revolutionizing industries and organizations by making cost effective solutions accessible.

Due to years of experience gained through projects in many regions and a consolidated base of partners situated throughout the world, Informatics has accumulated a robust portfolio of successful projects. Currently, Informatics has provided software solutions and hardware to over 25 countries by being a dominant ICT player in the African and Asia Pacific regions. The Group is currently expanding its base of international operations by providing tailor made solutions that caters to the clients specifications.

Informatics Founder Chairman Dr. Gamini Wickramasinghe said that Informatics has grown from humble beginnings to emerge as a corporate titan. Dr. Wickramasinghe added that in a short span Informatics was able to achieve great results by catering to every industry and organization

"Sri Lanka's ICT sector was at its infancy when we commenced operations. We created the much needed impetus and made cost effective solutions accessible to many industries. This is how Informatics played its role in strengthening Sri Lanka's ICT sector. We always maintained our standards and have always surpassed client expectations. We have not only focused on private entities but in our own way, we have contributed to the nation by providing the state sectors with the latest technological solutions," he said.

Speaking on the occasion, Informatics Group Managing Director Hiran Wickramasinghe said that the growth and the international awards won by Informatics is a key indicator of the Group's success rate. He added that Informatics has continued to strive to empower organizations and businesses through ICT and that thirst to empower is the key factor that has made Informatics a leader in ICT.

"Informatics still has a lot more mountains to scale, both in the local and foreign markets where our products and services are, and could be to an even greater extent, an indispensable tool for the success of numerous organizations. We have always integrated the latest technological trends and have been very consistent with technological innovations which have proven to be vital in today's digital age," he said. "We are also a firm believer in sustainability. We advocate a policy of promoting a low carbon economy and to live in a paperless world. Due to our diligent efforts in practicing sustainable management, Informatics International Ltd which is our software and international arm was awarded the Carbon Neutral Certification from the by the Carbon Neutral Company.

Amongst many of Informatics' accolades and certifications, recently the Group bagged the award for "Next Generation Integrity Servers (Business Critical Servers Category)" in Asian Emerging Countries at the HP Achievers' Club Awards in Cebu, Philippines and was also awarded the Oracle Platinum Partnership this year.

Informatics is currently the largest banking Automated Teller Machine (ATM) supplier in Sri Lanka by installing over 1,500 Wincor Nixdorf ATMs around the country and has recently introduced the new Cash Recycle Machine, from Wincor Nixdorf.

Informatics also diversified its operations into the agriculture sector by establishing Informatics Agrotech Private Ltd in the Mahaweli System C area located in the Dehiattakandiya area.
