Sanjaya vows to put Matara cricket on right track

Dr Sanjaya Sedara Senarath was appointed president of the Matara District Cricket Association (MDCA) and vowed to put cricket in the district back on the right track within his three year tenure.

Dr Sanjaya is currently the president of the Hambanthota District Cricket Association (HDCA) and a member of Sri Lanka Cricket’s executive committee.

The annual general meeting of the MDCA was held on June 17 as the post of President fell vacant with the resignation of Dr Ajith Ranawake who held the post of since 2007.

Matara District Parliamentarian and chairman of SLC’s selection committee Sanath Jayasuriya who has been very critical of the poor standard of cricket in the district, was appointed senior Vice President.

President: Dr Sanjaya Sedara Senarath. Senior Vice President: Sanath Jayasuriya. Vice Presidents: Raj Chandralal/ Upali Weerasinghe/ Deshabandu Tennakone/ T D Saman Chandana. Coordinator (schools - Nimal Dissanayaike (Principal Rahula College).

Secretary: Sunil Mohotti.
Treasurer: J U Ramawickrema.
Assistant Secretary: Sisira Weerasinghe.
Assistant Treasurer: T D Munasinghe.
Ground Secretary: Prasanna Galappaththi.
