Navy Commander awarded 6th Dan
The World Taekwondo Federation based in Seoul, South Korea,
(Kukkiwon) has conferred an honorary 06th Dan Taekwondo belt on
Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy. Vice Admiral Jayanath Colombage in
appreciation of his efforts to promote Taekwondo in the Sri Lanka Navy
as a sport. It was awarded by Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Sri
Lanka, Jong Moon Choi at the closing ceremony of the Inter-Command
Taekwondo Championship Finals held at the Admiral Somathilake
Dissanayake Auditorium at S L N S Parakrama on recently.
The Eastern Naval Command won the championship in both men and women
categories at the tournament. Altogether 156 competitors participated in
the tournament representing all seven Naval Commands. The SLN personnel
were trained under the guidance of Sri Lanka national coach, Master Lee
Kisu (08th Dan) from South Korea for the 108 matches held to choose the
finalists.
