A public petition consisting one
million signatures against the conduct of the Northern
Provincial Council polls without excluding land and police

Prime Minister D M Jayaratne
participated in a special Ashirwada Pooja at the Kataragama
Maha Devalaya. The Prime Minister after the pooja, observed
the progress of the construction activities of the kitchen
of the Maha Devalaya. Work is being carried out under the
direction of the Buddhasasana and Religious Affairs
Ministry. The Prime Minister also participated in religious
activities at the Kirivehera, Kataragama. He also called
over Kirivehera Rajamaha Vihara Chief Incumbent, Uva
Wellassa University Chancellor Ven Dr Aluthwewa Soratha

German Ambassador in Sri Lanka Dr.
Jurgen Morhard called on Mass Media and Information Minister
Dr. Keheliya Rambukwella at the Mass Media and Information
Ministry yesterday. Views were exchanged on imparting
knowledge on latest technological know how and training
journalists in dealing with digital media. Mass Media and
Information Ministry Secretary Dr. Charitha Herath was also
