Mantel makes history
Malathi Perera
Hilary Mantel is an English writer whose work ranges from personal
memoirs to historical fiction. She was born on July 6 July, 1952, in
Derbyshire, England and had graduated from the University of Sheffield.
She is the only female writer who has won the Man Booker Prize award
twice.
Her writing style has enveloped to various fields, other than
storytelling, she is a famous critic and a reviewer of films for a
number of papers and magazines in the UK.
Her first Booker Prize was awarded for 'Wolf Hall' in 2009 as the
Panel of Judges voted three to two in favour of the book. In 2009, it
became the bestseller in UK and topped the Official UK Top 50 since
official sales records began.
Her second Booker Prize was awarded in 2012 for 'Bring Up the Bodies'
which is arguably the first literary novel to be the bestselling book in
the UK. |
