Samaposha awared three quality assurance certificates
The market and business development opportunities seem brighter for
Samaposha, manufactured by Plenty Foods (Pvt) Ltd. a subsidiary of
Ceylon Biscuits Ltd., as the company has been conferred with several
quality assurance credentials. As a result of these certifications,
Samaposha is now well composed to compete more aggressively in global
markets and be the first Sri Lankan manufactured cereal brand to do so.

Plenty Foods Limited received the ISO 22000, HACCP and GMP
certifications from the Sri Lanka Standards Institute, recently. These
certificates endorse the hygienic nature of the raw material used for
the process, cleanliness of the manufacturing process and the excellent
manufacturing practices of a food processing operation.
Sheamalee Wickramasinghe, Group Managing Director, CBL attending the

International markets.
Samaposha, a principal local cereal brand manufactured at the
state-of-the-art processing unit of Plenty Foods Limited in Pallakele,
is manufactured using local raw materials, namely, corn, rice, soya and
green gram. "Samaposha, a brand that has been nurturing and nourishing
millions of Sri Lankan children (and adults) from many walks of life for
many years is now well poised to embark into the all important
international market with the acquisition of these quality
certificates," said Shammi Karunaratne, Director / CEO of Plenty Foods
Limited. He further stated that CBL products have reached many overseas
markets successfully due to the consistency in quality, taste. The
quality guarantee given to Samaposha is a reverberation of the
excellence of the brand and Plenty Foods in general. "The farmers
registered with the company, the staff employed at our factory and the
entire Plenty Foods team has been equal partners in working towards this
milestone of the company," Karunaratne stated further.
The strength of Samaposha remains with the stringent quality
assurance practices and concentrated efforts mobilized to ensure good
quality cultivation systems, harvesting practices, crop selection, etc..
Plenty foods has its own special farmer care unit and warehouse in
Madatugama, manufacturing plant in Pallakele and warehouses and
technical/support units spread across the cultivation areas, that help
the overall manufacturing process.
Samaposha consists of 9 vitamins and minerals that are essential for
the health & well-being of the consumer. Currently the brand is exported
to a few overseas markets and with the quality assurance in hand the
company will now explore more potential markets. |
