Five cops interdicted

Five Police officers of Akmeemana Police in Galle were interdicted from services with immediate effect by Galle SSP Lalith Pathinayake allegedly for not carrying out official obligations based on findings of a special inquiry held into the offence.

The Police officers were charged for willfully disregarding to arrest a female suspect who has 24 open court warrants against her in respect of law suits connected to dealings of illicit liquor.

The woman, a resident of Boossawatte in Akmeemna had evaded presence at courts regarding a number of cases against her for carrying out of illicit liquor business for which she had been issued with warrants.
