Homagama District Judge enlarged on bail
Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya yesterday
enlarged on bail Homagama District Judge Sunil Abeysinghe who was
taken into custody for allegedly soliciting and accepting Rs 300,000
from a woman for a ruling in her favour in a civil action. The bail
application of second suspect PC Mahinda Kithsiri was refused due to
the lack of compelling reasons to grant bail.

DIG Vaas Gunawardena arrested
DIG Colombo North Vaas Gunawardena was arrested
last evening by the Criminal Investigation Department in connection
with the murder of a businessman from Bambalapitiya on May 22.
