JHU meets President on 13A

The leaders of the Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU) called on President Mahinda Rajapaksa at Temple Trees yesterday to discuss proposed amendments to the 13th Amendment, states a press release from the President’s Media Division.

The release adds: “Views were exchanged at this meeting on the JHU’s five essential amendments to the Constitution proposed by the party before the Northern Provincial Council is established.

“The President responding to the JHU demands expressed that two factors pointed out by them have already been directed for ministerial consideration and the rest will also be immediately directed to the Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC).

“The President said he would also provide an opportunity to members of the Government to express their views regarding this matter”.
