The sanitation project of the Maharagama Cancer Hospital commenced
under the patronage of Water Supply and Drainage Minister Dinesh
Gunawardana recently.

This project is implemented under the Health Ministry funds. The
sanitation project is being implemented by the National Water Supply and
Drainage Board.
Modernization of the sewerage system of the Cancer Hospital,
connecting the sewerage system of the Cancer Hospital to the Rathmalana
– Moratuwa sewerage system, building a new pumping station, laying a
polythene tube system, collecting laboratory waste, laying a tube system
connecting the laboratory and X-ray providing unit, increasing the
capacity of the Iodine Treating Unit and establishing an Auto Control
System for the new pumping station are included in the project.
Minister Gunawardana said at the inauguration that the President has
made special focus on the Maharagama Cancer Hospital.
Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena also requested to commence the
sanitation project of the Cancer Hospital immediately, he said.
“We have to pay gratitude to relevant authorities and organizations
which supported us in many ways,” he said.
Cancer is a very serious disease and the Maharagama Cancer Hospital
is there to provide relief, he said.
