| The Ceylon Bank Employee’s Union (CBEU),
Bank of Ceylon Kalmunai Area branch organized a get together
at Ampara recently. Here, The Bank of Ceylon Eastern
Province Assistant General Manager K. P. Ananda Nadesan
gifted a prize to a student presenting a cultural item.

| The Ministry of Local Government and
Provincial Councils donated Tractors with Trailers and Gully
Bowsers worth Rs:200 million to 140 Local Authorities
recently. President Mahinda Rajapaksa was the chief guest at
this occasion. This could be utilized for Solid Waste
Management (SW M). Local Government and Provincial Councils
Minister A.L.M. Athaulla, Deputy Minister Indega Bandara,
Ministry Secretary R.A.A.K. Ranawaka, Addl. Secretary A.A.
Majeed and other officials from the ministry were present.

| The Asia Foundation would under take
certain development activities in the Kalmunai Municipality
under the Local Economic Governance programme. A sum of Rs:
450,000 was handed over to the Mayor of the Kalmunai
Municipality Dr. Siraz Meerasahib by M. I. M. Valeeth,
Programme Officer, Asia Foundation. This donation was
awarded in order to improve their revenues. Municipal
Accountant L. T. Saalideen, Municipal Engineer Haleem Jawzi
and higher officials from the Municipality are in picture.
