Son-in-law arrested over father-in- law’s death

A son-in-law was arrested by Balapitiya Police on Monday in connection with the death of his father-in-law who died on admission to Galle Karapitiya Teaching Hospital due to a stomach ailment.

Police said that the father-in-law, a resident of Godagama, Balapitiya in Galle while being treated at the hospital had stated to the doctors that he fell ill due to battering by his son-in-law. Investigations revealed that there had been constant clashes between the two. Several weeks before the incident, a complaint to police had been lodged regarding quarrels among them.

The man had lived with his daughter and son in law in same house. The inquest revealed that the death was due to physical attack. Police arrested the suspect while he was evading arrest. Balapitiya Police are investigating.
