President opens refurbished SLFP HQ building today

The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) headquarters building renovated
with modern facilities will be opened by President Mahinda Rajapaksa
today.
An all night pirith chanting ceremony will also be held with the
participation of President Rajapaksa to invoke blessings on the SLFP at
the refurbished SLFP headquarters.
The opening of the renovated SLFP building will coincide with the
43rd anniversary of the first oath taking of President Rajapaksa as a
young parliamentarian.
The SLFP, founded by S W R D Bandaranaike and D A Rajapaksa moved to
a glorious era accomplishing its realities of serving the public. Today,
the SLFP has become an unbeatable force by being the only single party
claiming 128 seats out of 225 in Parliament. The Party has won the
hearts of all ethnic groups in Sri Lanka, an SLFP press release said.
The release said with the appointment of President Mahinda Rajapaksa
as the party chairman, the party and the country experienced a growing
stability.
“The President led the Security Forces to end the 30-year-LTTE
terrorism creating a peaceful and harmonious society,” the release
added.
The country is heading towards mammoth development under the
direction of the SLFP led by its chairman, President Rajapaksa, it
added.
The Party was rejuvenated with the mobilisation of the Nilrella that
recruited more than two million new members within two weeks on the
direction of President Rajapaksa, SLFP General Secretary Maithripala
Sirisena and National Organiser Basil Rajapaksa. The renovated building
will create opportunities to the party to provide the political
leadership by fulfilling the expectations of the country in line with
the national development manifesto the ‘Mahinda Chianthana’ policy
declaration, the release said. |
