Dining on the Green

In on the Green is the Galle Face Hotel’s British colonial pub, which comprises of a separate entrance from the Galle Road, with ample parking space available at the Regency wing. The pub is now open daily from 12noon to midnight except on Poya Days.

It now offers guests with a new lunch menu inclusive of beverages. The pub therefore is the perfect place to enjoy a quick lunch from 12noon to 2.30pm from Monday to Saturday.

Daily Happy Hour is from 5.30pm to 7.30pm and diners can enjoy a 50 percent discount on selected beverages along with live entertainment daily and of course participate at the Quiz Nite on Wednesdays. Diners are invited to experience the culinary delights in the evenings at the In on the Green which include starters, main courses, snacks and a wondrous spread of sandwiches as well as beverages. Starters include soups, BBQs, pates and salads. One can experience the fresh homemade soup of the day, seasonal mushroom soup or the fresh onion soup which ever that suits your palette. The BBQs include pork spare ribs or chicken winglets. For those that love pate one can choose between chicken liver pate and toasted brioche.

The pub offers some of the best salad choices in town that include mixed seasonal greens, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, onion feta cheese with lemon and olive dressing salad or the famous Caesar salad with crispy bacon and parmesan cheese.

The main courses on offer is an unlimited spread enabling guests to choose from a range that includes roast or fried chicken, cottage pie, the mixed or surf grills, bangers and mash, fish and chips to pub burgers.

For the pasta lovers the restaurant offers a special Pasta Station where one could select their own choice of pastas and sauces whether it is spicy or mild in flavour. The restaurant has also done justice to its snack menus which include unimaginable gastronomical journeys such as batter fried shrimps with wasabi mayonnaise and ginger dip, potato wedges topped with spicy salsa and melted cheese, mutton koftas, baked jacket potatoes with sour cream and much more.

The sandwiches on offer can be made out of white or brown bread and include the most delectable selection of fillings such as bacon, cheese and avocado melt and prawn marie rose.

Also one must not forget that the pub offers the best of tea and coffee and a host of other beverages. The pub retains its very colonial ambience and also offers large screen television facilities where one could watch your favourite sport programmes.
