Central Industries PLC opens state-of-the-art manufacturing complex at Yakkala

Central Industries PLC, Sri Lanka's leading manufacturers of National PVC pipes and fittings, recently inaugurated the first phase of its brand new factory complex at Yakkala at a ceremony graced by S V Wanigasekera, Chairman, Central Industries PLC in the presences of board of directors and the members of the staff.

The company built the factory complex in order to fulfill the ever increasing consumer demand for its popular brands PVC Pipes and fittings and Krypton Electrical switches. Covering a land area of nine acres, the factory complex will be built in three phases. The new complex will help to increase the production capacity of the existing factory complex at Kerawalapitiya.

Addressing the gathering at the opening ceremony, Newton Wickramasuriya, Director/ CEO - Central Industries PLC said, "In line with our vision of maintaining highest standards in manufacturing, we subject all our products to strict tests at our state-of-the-art laboratory before releasing those to the market. The high quality of our products has enabled our company to become a leading player in the industry. Further, we inaugurated this modern factory complex in order to meet the ever increasing customer demand for our products. In addition the factory complex is equipped with the latest technology, enabling us to introduce a range of new products to the market. As all our products will be manufactured using the latest technology, this will be an exciting experience to our customers."

Begun in the year 1985, Central Industries PLC is the first Sri Lankan company to receive Sri Lankan standard certificates in the place of then traditional Japanese standard certificates. The company also became the first pipes and fittings brand name to receive the 9001 certification. Later, Central Industries expanded into Krypton electrical switches and parts. Krypton is a renowned name for not only switches, sockets and accessories but also breaker, trips and main switches.

Apart from manufacturing National PVC pipes and Krypton electrical switches, Central Industries PLC is sole agent for Hitachi power tools from Japan.
