'Power Shot Shoot Out':
Nelum wins prestigious Canon amateur contest
Sri Lankan photo enthusiast Nelum Wickramathunga beat 710 applicants
from across Asia by winning the prestigious Canon amateur photography
contest 'Power Shot Shoot Out' held recently by Canon Singapore Pte Ltd.

The contest attracted 1,971 applicants from Indonesia, Malaysia,
Thailand, Singapore, India, Philippines and Sri Lanka, through facebook
and Canon Powershot website. The finalists and winning images were
selected by an expert international panel of photographers and
thereafter was opened to the public voting system. Nelum
Wickramathunga's photograph was selected as the winner in the Capture
Life category, receiving the highest number of public votes.
"I am thrilled and this is such a pleasant surprise," Nelum,
Wickramathunga winner of this contest said. She was notified about the
contest while surfing the Metropolitan Facebook fan page.
The Canon "PowerShot Shoot Out" contest brought together amateurs
with a passion for photography and was open to citizens of South and
South East Asia. Canon Singapore Pte. Ltd organized this contest in an
attempt to demonstrate the vibrant range, high tech minimalist camera
designs and the crisp image quality of Canon compact range of cameras
through the eyes of its users.
Each photographer were required to submit three photographs under the
categories of Turn Night Into Light, Set Your Sights Further and Capture
Life.

"We are very pleased that this regional contest were won by a Sri

be an encouragement to young photography lovers to take their passion to
